This is the monster bruise, previously mentioned. This was also an insanely difficult picture to take, which is partially responsible for why it is a lame picture. I live a plush life where I only receive bruises and cuts from my own incessant clumsiness. This, however, is epic. This had to be documented, even if only documented awkwardly.

Our family friends Denny and Marilyn. They are probably my parent’s closest friends and a lot of fun to be around. Marilyn is always more than happy to help me with my knitting. She showed me how to stitch the bag I’m making together. I debated for a while whether to put this picture up or the one of Denny doing his famous monkey face. I wanted a picture with Marilyn though. She is simply lovely. Her life has been so amazing, and I can only hope to have as many amazing stories about my life when I am her age. She was giving me tips about New York. When she first moved there, she accidentally moved into a whorehouse, and it took her a week or so to figure why all the other girls that lived there kept coming and going.

A few of my co-workers and I floated down the Truckee River. It was a beautiful day. We had blueberry vodka and blueberry beer that we were keeping in this floating cooler. Unfortunately, though, once we hit some mild rocky rapids, the cooler flipped over, and apparently the lid wasn’t on tight enough. Once we were in smoother waters, we realized that the cooler was completely empty. All of our beer had drowned, along with Jho Anna’s waterproof camera and Pam’s car keys. We stopped for a while, but quickly realized looking for the keys was pretty futile. We were, however, able to salvage the vodka, the carton of juice we were using for a chaser, and a beer. In response to losing her keys, Pam proceeded to polish off the water bottle full of vodka. What else was there to do? We laid back, enjoyed the sun and the water, and kept floating. We took turns watching out for Pam making sure she didn’t drown. It was one of the funnest summer days I have had in 2010. If I were staying here, I would certainly invest in my own tube. We are planning on going again in a couple of weeks. Just enough time for my sunburn to fade, and the monstrous bruise on my butt to heal.

One of the frustrating things about this project is that I feel a lot of pressure to prove to the world what an exciting and fulfilled life I have. Friday night for example, I was feeling really worn out from my week. I wanted to just lay in bed and watch movies and read. But I hadn’t taken a picture and began to worry that I was wasting my youth or something. I had talked to a couple of people. There just wasn’t that much brewing outside my door, not to mention that I am trying hard to save money before payday. But I really wanted to go to a bar, to a club, to a venue, to a new restaurant, just so I could take a picture. Eventually, though, my heart won, and I spent the evening reading, going to sleep at a Grandma hour. Spending a Friday night with Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salandar isn’t so shabby.

I have been keeping a journal since I moved to Nevada in 1997. They have always been important to me. I have always considered writing in them to be like therapy, a way for me to work through my thoughts. I can write absolutely anything. I love going back through them and remembering different phases of my life. I am coming to the end of the ninth!

My Seattle Mariner’s fuzzy dice broke. It was strange, and I don’t understand exactly how it happened. I drove into my driveway and they just came flying off my rear-view mirror. They somehow must have just become detached from their string. I feel like Fang (my monster of a car) knows that our relationship is coming to an end, and I am preparing to sell him. Now he’s rebelling. He gets stubborn and refuses to shift into third. He makes weird noises. Fang is such a temperamental thing. Anyone want to buy him?!

I dropped boyfriend off at the airport at 4 in the morning. It was a lot more difficult than I anticipated. Six weeks feels like forever. But I am not one to mope, and I have a lot to do in preparation for my move. However, I let myself have one night to feel down about it. After work, I came home and watched an angsty television show, all alone in that big empty bed.

Travis and I went up to Donner Lake with his parents and Grandma Tiny for his last day here. It was a relaxing day spent eating his mom’s food, walking the dogs, cooling our heels in the lake, and taking a nap on the hammock. Peace and Quiet before the jolting reality of the city.

Saturday morning, we met some of Travis’ friends at Squeeze In for breakfast. For those that haven’t visited this beloved Reno/Truckee establishment, the walls are covered with messages, drawings, etc. As we sipped our coffee and waited for our omelets, we saw a girl climb on her boy’s shoulders to make her mark on a high spot on the wall. Her butt was showing which is why we were all looking, but then we realized Travis had to make his mark. Especially since he is so tall, him standing on a chair puts him at a level of the restaurant that few people have been able to go before. So Long T$.
