The Think Coffee Holiday Party! It was a good time and only cemented in my mind how I am actually going to miss working there. It is time for me to move on, but I am going to miss the people there a lot. The party was at a small bar in Greenpointe. I didn’t realize until I got home that I didn’t take a single picture. So this is Think Coffee sitting on my counter.

I’ve really enjoyed witnessing how Christmas-ified New York gets. In our own corner of the city, our super hung wreaths on the doors and lights on the awning above the doors. It isn’t the glittering lights of 5th Avenue, but it was a cute surprise to come home to. This is a backwards picture of the wreath, but it was too cold to try and take it from the outside.

Winter has finally made its way to New York. I almost feel silly writing this as a couple of feet of snow is now on my fire escape, but this was the first snowfall. It was just little flurries, and it didn’t really accumulate. But it was a sign of the season nonetheless.

Mom C sent Travis his childhood Christmas stocking. She made one for me as well, so that I wouldn’t feel left out. His family likes to refer to me as “Chrissy Baby,” so as not to confuse me with his cousin whose name is also Chrissy. “Chrissy Baby” is the result of a very embarrassing story, which I will not disclose here. But as far as nicknames go, I’m pleased with it.

Travis attended the Santa convention in Midtown. I had to work but planned on meeting up with him and his friends when I was done. He was pretty exhausted by the time we met up, so we just headed home. But we wore our Santa hats on the subway.

Friday night, we went on a double date with Travis’ co-worker and her husband. They had hard-to-get tickets to Comic Strip Live which is one of the most famous comedy clubs in New York. While everyone was filtering in, they were playing old routines on big screens. They played bits by Jerry Seinfeld, Robin Williams, Gilbert Godfried, Eddie Murphy. The comics that we saw were hilarious. Plus, clubs like this have a two-drink minimum. The drinks cost around $12, but they sure do make them strong. Halfway through the show, I was drunk and laughing uncontrollably.

I was mildly distracted, though, by this obnoxious woman near us. The best way to describe it is by citing an episode a “Seinfeld.” The one where Kramer is dating Toby, Elaine’s annoying co-worker. Kramer takes her to one of Jerry’s show, and she obnoxiously ruins it by constantly saying “That is so funny!” and eventually booing and hissing. We had that girl. She had to yell out “That’s funny!!” after everything. Finally one of the comics started making fun of her, but she just got more obnoxious, a security guard came over and told her to knock it off, and she left. But it’s another New York moment almost straight out of Seinfeld!

I accepted a Receptionist/ Office Manager position in the Upper East Side. It is not my dream job, but it is a step in the right direction, and I can finally make a living wage and begin to enjoy New York City. I took this as I walked back from my lunch break. The grand building on the left is The Plaza. Everything around the office is really swank. My lunch that day was a tuna melt for $12, and it didn’t come with fries!! I will be packing my lunch in the future.

Sometimes when I am feeling adventurous I will walk around Greenwich Village after work, eventually making my way to Union Square. I saw that the Empire State Building had changed its colors to blue and white which perplexed me, until I remembered Hanukkah. This is New York after all.

I bought these tights thinking that they were just black with pink hearts. They are actually crazy sparkly. It’s hard to tell with the image-killing flash on my camera, but they are super super sparkly.
